About Scott

As a kid, I spent lots of time in the woods behind my family’s home in Connecticut. My brothers and sister and I climbed rock walls and waded through streams. In spring, we stomped on skunk cabbages, in winter we sledded down the driveway, and with every adventure, our imagination took us to new places.

My boyhood dreams of traveling became real when I ventured to Tunisia as an exchange student in high school. Like the woods behind my house, there was so much to discover. The people I met and the stories they shared opened my mind and inspired my dreams. It’s no wonder then that I continued to travel, spending a year studying in France, and eventually convincing my wife to travel the world together as young teachers.

That was in 1996. Since then, we’ve lived alongside volcanoes in Indonesia, in villages in the Czech Republic, and amid skyscrapers in Singapore. Along the way we’ve met so many remarkable people and explored the places they call home. And I’ve realized that when you learn about who they are and what they value, you also discover a lot about yourself.
